NOTRE-DAME
CATHEDRAL ROOF RE -CONSTRUCTION
During the unfortunate fire, everyone from all around the world shared grief while watching the roof of the Notre-Dame cathedral vanish into thin air, and this grief then turned into a desire to repair the structure. In the proposal, these feelings of grief and desire are to create a timeless design that aims to bring everyone together to rebuild the cathedral, which has been a cultural heritage for hundreds of years. Timelessness, contribution, solidarity, and cooperation are the main concepts of the design for the roof of the cathedral.
The roof structure is composed of three different elements; the frame system which is the outermost element that forms the original silhouette of the cathedral, the brick vault which is the element that is created by the visitors, and lastly the innermost element which is the glass skin. There are catwalks in the interior space that allows visitors to travel and place bricks.
